I have a problem with the service pack install for the .NET framwork which is puzzling me. I have checked ADD/Remove and I have the version which came with the original SP1 and then I have version 1.1 4322.573 when I check via Admin Tools .NET 1.1 - I went to the update site last night and was shown SP3 and SP1 - I accepted these and ran the donwload/install - the update site showed successful installs and asked me to re-boot.

I re-booted my computer and the Welcome screen I always had with .NET had vanished  I restored my computer and the Welcome screen appeared again

I decided to run the install this morning from the actual download of SP1 for .NET - everything went without error - again I was asked to re-boot and on re-boot now Welcome screen just straight into Windows  I have since restored and have my welcome screen back again and not I still have 1.1 4322.573 but am totally puzzled as to why I loose the welcome screen when I install the service pack.

I really would appreciate advice on what I should do  everytime I install the service pack I loose the screen which was there when I installed .NET orginally. I am running XP Pro with SP2 but very puzzled

It's OK I have found out the reason and have now updated my laptop and both are working with the SP1 installed.
