Hello hope someone can help, I clicked on my software repair wizard and I got the missing shortcut box with the flashlight and after a few seconds of searching I get a box that says Problem with shortcut.. the drive or network connection that the shortcut software repair wizard.lnkcrefers to is unavaliable. make sure that the disk is prperly inserted or the network resource is avaliable, and then try again... how do i fix this? sorry if its simple but I am kinda new to computers but I have used the wizard before and had no problems with it, thanks in advance to any help.

    Hi Amber,

What prompted you to run the software repair wizard?

What software is the shortcut for? Was it a desktop icon?

If a desktop icon, from the start menu > all programs. What you see are shortcuts. If you find the one you're missing, right click on it. On the menu that comes up, click on "send to desktop ", this will create a copy of the shortcut on the desktop.

If the shortcut is missing altogether:

open the C drive, open the Program Files folder.

Open the program's folder whose shortcut you're missing.

In that folder, find the progam's name with a file extension of .exe and right click on it. In the menu, click on create shortcut and move that to the desktop.

    Regards - Charles

    Thanks

Thanks Charles, I followed your directions and I never saw the Icon I was looking for, the original one on my desktop was a wrench on a bold and it said software repair wizard, after looking in all programs I found it but it did the same thing when I tried to run it , but I found system restore which did the same thing the software repair wizrard did so I just moved it to the desktop, I was going to use it because my PC was not letting me on the internet and everthing was freezing up, and after many virus scans comming up empty I was going to just restore my PC to a diffrent day, but after I cleaned out some junk and defraged it everthing is running ok, thanks again for the help im sure I will have more problems in the future.
