    Hi!
My company now is using some MS-DOS-based programs, with LQ-2180 EPSON printer, which do not print until we close the program. It is rather inconvenient for our daily work!
Recently, we learn from Windows XP’s Help and Support section that there might be a driver available that allows printing while running MS-DOS-based programs.
Therefore, would you mind showing us how and where we can find this driver, as well as how to specify the driver in our MS-DOS-based program settings?

    Hi.

You can probably get the DOS programs to work by enabling "Print directly to the printer" in the properties of the printer. "

Some of those old DOS programs address LPT1 directly and bypass windows completely so the print spooler in windows won't work.

This site should prove helpful to you. Here's an excerpt from it:

What driver should I choose in my MS-DOS program?
    Choose from any of the following printer drivers: LQ-2170, LQ-2070, LQ-570+/LQ-1070+, Action Printer 5000+, Action Printer 5000, LQ-870/1170, LQ-850+/1050+, LQ-850/1050, LQ-510/550/1010, LQ-670, LQ-200, LQ-500, LQ-860+, LQ-2550, LQ-2500, LQ-800/1000, LQ-1500.

The drivers are available for downloading there also. If you do not find anything listed for your use, give them an e-mail and see if they can suggest a sub.

    Good luck.
