    Hello,
I am new here. I have windows XP home SP2. I had Netscape 7 and just installed version 8.1. I cannot find the icon to get to the email, (I don't mean the webmail). I mean the Messenger email with my inbox and my old messages and my address book.
Also, I can't find Composer either. I created my website with Composer, I need it to update my website.
Any help and suggestion would be most welcome.
    Thank you and merry Christmas.

    Netscape 8 is a stand-alone browser.

To expand on what James said, if you uninstalled 7.2, as you installed 8.1, you lost mail and composer. Since NS8.x was designed to be a browser-only, and no companion mail client was developed you will need to reinstall NS7.x. The tendency is to staray from the Suite concept of Netscape, and go to the standalone idea. It is fine for me, who does not have a website, but very clumsy for users of all components. So go back to NS7.x, and then consider Seamonkey which is up to date, unlike NS7.x. As for NS8.x, I tried to give you a quote from their Help and Support, which describes it, and it froze twice. I think that much of NS8.1.2.

    Welcome to the Forum, France!

    France,

If you like the standalone browser concept, there is also Firefox. Then there is Thunderbird, which is the companion standalone Mail Client to Firefox.

However, if you do prefer a suite, then SeaMonkey is definitely an excellent alternative to Netscape 7.2, and definitely superior to 8.1, which is an AOL product, and no longer associated with Mozilla.
