    Hi, through trying to clean up my windows I managed to somehow create a problem for my self. I have Windows XP sp3

    I seemed to have deleted something that prevents me from opening the Properties when I right click on My Neighbourhood Places.

    What happens is that I get an error message come up that says;

    "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel. "

    I also get the same message when I click on the My Neighbourhood Places Icon on the Start Menu page.

    Hi and welcome to the BBS,

    Do you see any file names mentioned in the error messages?

    Try looking in Event Viewer, right-click on My Computer, select Manage -> Event Viewer. Double click on the error to see more detail.

    Hi Matt,
    Thanks for the quick response. I am in Canada and its Thanksgiving here so sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

    The error message just disappears if you click on it. I quoted the entire error message that appears.
    When I get a chance I will attempt a double click to see if I get any results.
    Also its the XP home not PRO

    I can get to the properties via the Control panel but am not able to via the desktop icons. Some ot the other Icons are acting the same way.

    Bruce:rolleyes:

    If you are getting other errors/problems as well, it might be wise to do a System Restore to a point before you ran the cleaners. You might be back to square one with the cleaning, but be very careful what you do clean after that.
