problem with my dvd drive

    hi guys

    i have a samsung dvdw TSST CORP CDDVDW SH-S202J when ever i connect it to the system the bios shows no optical device found in cd/dvd column and when i go to the desktop it shows new hardware found and displays the icon in my computer and it is also present in device manager but it doesnot detect any cd/dvd in it

    i tried the following

    1) change jumper positions

    2) it worked properly in my friends system

    3) formatted my Os and reinstalled it

    4) downloaded latest drivers and installed

    5) deleted the upper and lower filters in registry settings

    6) ide cable is good as i aslo have a combo which works good

    7) applied lens cleaner

    so pls help me out and pls post some solutions to this issu e

    Hi vamsee, When you went into Control Panel > System > Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > Expand to show all > Right click on Samsung DVD > Properties > DVD Region - was it set for your Region? Set and OK out. You said it wasn't recognized in BIOS - what make BIOS do you have? Neil.
