    Hi,
I used my disk cleaner and the defragmenter and now I can't locate javascript. My computer has been acting up ever since this happened, I was worried that I have messed a lot of things on my computer up,since I'm a beginner and have a lot to learn about computers in general.
Hope someone can help me figure out what I need to do to correct my many mistakes.

    Thanks,Terry Harvey terryaharvey@juno.com

    Unexpected problem....

    Hello to all,

I read this message board daily and often like to try out the links provided in the threads (alot of helpful & interesting stuff can be found through them!)

I have been following this thread (and many others similar) only to find that I may also have a problem with the java thing?

I had went to the supplied links to test my java (more just out of curiosity) only to find that I don't think mine appears to be working!? When I checked out the "www.clan....." link I do not see (any) text message in the box! I do see a small box in the upper left hand corner (has the appearance of a graphic that doesn't show up--box with the colored square, circle, triangle in it).

Same type of thing happens when I visit the "www.javatester..." site! It says "this browser can do java applets ". (The large space between the wording is where the box is and all that shows in the same type of "graphic" box as above.)

Sorry if I'm not clear on explaining, my computer terminology is very limited! And maybe that it why I am unsure on how to go about further checking or correcting this issue?

    I am using W98 with IE 5.50 and I think I have MS Java v.5.00.3809??? (by doing a search for files/folders-- msjava.dll).

Can anyone help me with figuring out why this doesn't work?

    Thanks to all,
    Vicki

    Problem solved!!!

Can't believe I actually "solved" this problem all on my own! (not really, I actually had help from another thread I had been reading!)

I ended up doing a download of the MS JVM using the link provided in another post (thanks to myflynn for providing that link!!) http:/ww2.whidbey.com/djdenham/VM.htm

Now I am able to read all the information on those java test sites that everyone is suggesting to try! I'm sooo happy! :D

But I do have one question now that I have succeeded in getting the JVM thing to working....do I need to keep that folder (that I have downloaded on my desktop)?

Once again, thank you for this wonderful help board!!

    Sincerely,
    Vicki
