I cannot log into any online e-mail sites. This includes Sympatico, Hotmail and Yahoo and when I press smilie shortcut buttons on boards, they don't put the smilie onto my messege. When I open Internet Options, there is no Advanced tab present anymore.

Also (unrelated to IE) when I open Control Panel, all the icons are all shifted to the left in another window. When I open Add/Remove Programs, the box is litterally empty except for the grey border on the side and the caption on the top.

    Thanks for your help :D

    What version of IE?
    Did you downloaded/install/uninstall anything recently?
Have you done a full virus scan?

I think it's IE6 (the one the comes standard with Windows 2000)
I did a full virus scan 2 days ago with Panda Antivirus and I recently uninstalled Norton 2004. The Advanced tab in the Internet Options has been gone for a while though. And I just figured out that it's not just the smilies, I can't press any board buttons at all.

Do you use Spybot and AdAware? If not, download them both and after installing (reboot after each install) update their files. (I've found it necessary to close Spybot after d/l updates then reopen for them to install, though I can't say you will have to) Run spybot first. Delete all they find.
Should probably also run CWShredder. The d/l link is near the bottom of the page.

Did you by chance use the immunize feature in Spybot? If so, turn it off.
What Operating System do you have?
