I use Netscape 4.8, but most especially I use Messenger for all my email and news. A few hours ago, I started having trouble with "Get New Mail ". Netscape cannot locate my inbound mail server. I've tried using tracert, and the server seems to be there, and working okay. And, of course, this happened ten minutes after my ISP's tech support closed for the night, so I can't call them and ask if they're having troubles. I use different servers for inbound and outbound mail, so the fact that I am not having problems sending mail doesn't prove anything either. On the chance that it was a problem with Netscape, I also deleted my user profile and created a new one with the same name, thus reinstating all my settings. But I still can't seem to receive incoming email.

    *HELP!*

    Hi acelightning,

If there are messages in your INBOX that you want to keep then rename the file to INBOX.OLD. Then delete the INBOX and INBOX.SNM, they will be rebuilt ... Restart Netscape.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Ramona :D

It turned out to be a problem with my ISP - the email started working a few minutes after they opened for business in the morning, before I even had a chance to call them. So I don't know what their problem was - but I don't care, because it's fixed now ;-)
