problem with ie or windows player

    ok ..when i want to watch a video when i am on the internet and windowsmediaplayer opens i get this message wmplayer.exe. aplication the instruction 0x89e99140 referenced memory at 0x89e99140 thememory could not be read then it says click ok to terminate program click on cancel to debug the program...wichever one i click the program closes, the other times is teh same problem but instead of the wmplayer i get ie explorer.exe and then the same message.... but if i have a saved movie or video the windosmedia player would play it with out a problem.........it was fine until i downloaded a codec pack called matroska so i could watch a movie that had that format, i uninstalled it but since then i had this problem...i ran my antivirus and my adware and that does not seem to be the problem.....thanks in advance for any help u guys can give me

    Hello ch107,

    Try System Restore restoring just prior to your installing the codec.

    But, any software/MS update installs since then will have to be re-done.

    Use Help and Support on the Start menu for info on SR if you're unfamiliar with System Restore.
