    Hello. Here's the background info:

I connect to the Internet via a wireless network (someone in the mobil home park where I live set one up, and I am one of his "customers ")

The computer that connects to the wireless network is running Me. I have another computer (running W98) that I also wanted to connect to the Internet. I set up ICS on the Me machine (the ICS host), and on the W98 machine (the ICS client).

This was very easy to do, and worked fine for several months. However, now the client machine cannot access the Internet. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ICS on both machines, but still have the problem.

Specifically, I can ping the LAN card (10.1.1.1/8) on the ICS host machine from the ICS client machine (10.1.1.2/8). I can also ping the Internet card (192.168.1.101/24, the one the connects to the wireless network) from the ICS client machine. But, I can't ping the wireless network gateway address (192.168.1.1/24) from the ICS client machine.

Quite puzzling. Hope someone can help. Thanks VERY much if you can.

Sorry but I don't recognize the /8 & /24 parts of the IP addresses. Never seen that notation before.

As to the other - it is strange behavior. Possibly something in the network settings has just gone strange. First think I'd try is to remove networking completely from both your PCs - including physical removal of the NICs after you remove them from device manager.

Then set the whole thing up from the beginning. Make sure you have the latest drivers and set the NICs to the same speed/duplexing rather than using Auto.

If that doesn't solve the problem, post back but I'm betting it will fix you up.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping it would not have to come to that, but oh well. I'll try them.

I was just trying to save space with the "/" notation. The "/24" is a short hand for a 255.255.255.0 subnet mask (24 "bits ")

    Thanks again.
