I have Win10 on a Gateway desktop. I have the system set to never put the pc in sleep mode and the monitor is never to turn off. If I'm not going to use it for a while, I put it in sleep mode myself. However, at some point during the night, it goes into sleep mode. Normally I wouldn't care but I run a full system scan of my AV at night and when it goes into sleep mode, it basically pauses it. I just checked the settings and both display and PC are set to NEVER.

I don't know the answer - I am just seeking more information.

Does this happen every night? And if so, you can check your Event logs and see if it happens at the same time every night.

And is it really asleep, or has it shutdown? I note that Windows Update often requires a reboot. This is typically scheduled for about 3:30am. It should reboot (not just shutdown) at that time, but I wonder if it is not.

In Advanced power settings, are you sure hibernation or hybrid sleep are disabled?

Sorry I did not reply sooner. It seems to have worked itself out. I finish with computer and after a time, the screensaver comes on but that's it. All I did was toggle the options on and off so maybe something didn't take?
At any rate, thanks for the assist.

It is funny how that often happens.

    Thanks for the followup.
