    Hello,
I had to replace my power supply on my Dell, which was succesful. But now when I power on there is a black screen that says

    Bios version A00
Drive 2 not found Parallel ATA PATA-0
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup utility.

I would like to eliminate this screen since it prevents Windows from starting.

    Thanks
    Dave

Check your ribbon cable on the IDE headers and attached drives. Also check the molex connectors for same and if you are still getting this message after that excercise, go into setup and redetect your drives. I think you have a loose or unplugged IDE cable.

    ;)

On some Dells I was working on, it had something similar. It appears to think there is a HDD missing from a slave connection (drive 2) and PATA 0 should be the primary controller. In the BIOS (F2), you need to reset that drive location. It may just be a matter of setting it to "Off ", then restarting and setting it back to Auto. I think it just needs reassurance that it hasn't "lost" it :D

Edit: you may want to renew the CMOS battery, just in case.
