    Since I updated Netscape from 7.01 to 7.02 I have found a couple of problems. First when I try to get my Yahoo mail, the page keep looping and never loads. If I look at my history there are numerous hits on that site confirming that it is looping.
    Also having a problem with cookies. One of my web sites has to be able to use a cookie. Now that I have updated I can't access this site because it tells me that I must accept cookies. In my preferences I have gone as far as to accept all cookies, still doesn't work.

    I have searched the web for some time now and also contacted several customer services and, as usual, nothing. They want to tell me about every other version other than 7.2.

    Any help to this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi gator
    Per cookie problem.....
    Sometimes N7's get ornery. With Netcape closed, disable Quick Launch (if used), open Netscape, go to Preferences /cookies and select "Disable cookies ". Exit preferences, close Netscape / open Netscape... go to Preferences /cookies and select "Enable cookies ". Exit preferences, close Netscape / open Netscape. Travel back to problem site, hopefully they can get together and have some cookies. If NOT, post back.. more radical solutions.

    Changing my setting several times didn't work. I guess it is time to roll up our sleeves and get radical with Netscape.

    Hi gator

    Well, just not our day to have cookies. First lets do a few a things.....
    Disable QuickLaunch... and leave it off intil we are successful with getting cookies to work. A suggestions... If you have a newer computer, there is NO need for quicklaunch. Newer computers load programs fast and you can't get into weird file write update problems with quick launch disabled.
    Next clear your Netscape "Memory Cache" and "Disk Cache ".
    THE ABOVE RULES STAND FOR EACH ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE COOKIE FILE. Close / Load after doing above and when doing below PER OPTION.
    Option 1) Have ONE Netscape window open. NOT the site you can NOT get to provide cookies. Goto... Tools| Cookie Manager| Managed stored cookies.... See your list of cookie files. You can click/highlight a file, notice information provided. NOW... this is where we NEED some luck. Try to find the cookie(s) that belong to the problem site. LOOK under the "site name" field. It could be one, it could be more than 15. When you find one, highlight it and "Remove it ". Once one or more are found, exit cookies, close / load Netscape... Travel to your problem site and with LUCK you can have your cookies. If NOT, -(OR)- ......
    Option 2) Do everything above, except don't look for problem site in list, just click "Remove All ". Exit cookies, close / reload Netscape, travel to your problem site. Hopefully you can have your cookies. You can try either option. If still does NOT work... -(OR)-
    Option 3) Do NOT do option 1 or 2. With Netscape CLOSED,...Go to your "Profile" file set. Find your xxxxxx.slt folder, highlite it. Look in right panel for a file called cookies.txt and rename it to... cookies.OLD Close explorer. Open Ntscape, it will automatically rebuild a NEW cookie file. Travel to your problem site... You WILL get your cookies now. Post back with results. MY SUGGESTION... take option 3.

    1&2 I had already tried with no luck and I hate quick launch.

    3, I looked for the cookies.txt file and couldn't find it on my computer. I did a search and came up with nothing. Even tried to do a generic search of .txt and came up with 528 hits but nothing to do with cookies. I made sure that it searched everything, even hidden folders.

    Am I mssing something about your last post? I am running XP if that helps.

    Hi gator..
    This is the proper path for XP's....
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profile_name\salted_name.slt
    WITH NETSCAPE CLOSED .......
    Open Explorer, follow the path to Mozilla, EXPAND... follow the tree down until you get to your unique salted folder.... xxxxxxxx.slt
    Click "once" on folder to highlight. Right side of your screen the panel should now display folders first, then files in alpha decending.... should run into "cookie.txt
    Re-Name to "cookie.OLD
    Gator... favor... Could you provide the URL for the site that refuses to acknowledge your cookie acceptance.

    Thanks for the further info. After looking furhter after I last posted, I found it myself. I tried renaming and sure enough Netscape created a new cookie.txt. BUT I still can't access the web page.
    I have tried anything and everything that I can think of that might allow me to open this page.

    The URL in question is start.earthlink.net

    That is how I access my personal start page and a few other things. I am thinking about contacting my ISP and see if there is something that I should know about that they haven't told me.

    Hi gator
    I'm really sorry your problem has not been fixed. I tried your problem site and it loaded fine. A good friend and fellow monitor PM'ed me concerned it might be a Netscape/Java/MS/Sun problem. I run my N7 with NO Java and on the rare occasion I need Java I use IE6 which does. Both browsers opened the site with no problems. BUT... I did forget to have you check BLOCKED sites in cookies. Now deleting the cookie file should have cured that, but check it anyway.... when you get to the manage cookie view, click on "Cookie Sites" Tab to check for blocked sites. AGAIN, just checking... with the NEW cookie file, you still received the message issued by Netscape that site is stating your "cookies are disabled. Do you have IE on your system.. if yes, try using it and see what happens.

    already checked the blocked cookie sites and nothing there.
    The URL that I gave you was the page that I need to access the page that gives me the error NOT the actual page.
    Tried using IE this morning and it worked with no problem.
    If it makes you feel any better, I was on chat with Tech Services for over an hour and they finally told me that I needed to make a few adjustments to my dial up, didn't work. They did suggest everything that you had mentioned. They were able to log on with my information so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the site.
    Been working around the problem so it is no big deal.

    Hi gator
    Hmmmm, could you please provide that URL. Once on the accessing page, right click on the problem link and choose "copy link location ". Paste the information into your next post. Does your work-around provide you access to the problem site?

    Sorry about the confusion. I hope I don't confuse you even further with this post.

    The actual URL IS in fact the same but with the cookie it changes the look of the page. The only thing that I was able to copy with IE was this:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Wally's Page</title>
    <meta http-equiv=Content-Type content= "text/html; charset=windows-1252 ">
    <meta http-equiv= "Pragma" content= "no-cache "></meta>
    <meta http-equiv= "Cache-Control" content= "no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate, max-age=1, s-maxage=1 "></meta>
    <meta http-equiv= "Expires" content= "Sat, 1 Jan 2000 13:00:00 GMT "></meta>

    <script language= "JavaScript ">
    var templateid = 100000000;
    var globalSearchID = "1 ";
    var userCG = 1;
    </script>

    I have found several other sites that give me a similar message but usually I can click back and reenter the information and all is well.

    I just tried using IE to access Yahoo!! and all is well with that using IE, not Netscape.

    Thanks for your help on this matter.

    Hi gator

    GoTo... Preferences| Advance (Expand)| Scripts and Plugins. Enable JavaScript for...
    Checks marks in "Navigator ".
    Do NOT have check marks in "Mail and Newsgroups.
    For the rest of the page... have checkmarks in EVERYTHING. Exit preferences, close/reload Netscape.. try problem site. If this does NOT work, we can pursue some "Java" questions, your call.

    Hi gator

    Yahoooo, glad it's working. I hope them are tasty cookies!!! Word of caution, better change that cookie setting from "Enable All Cookies" to something alittle more palatable. :D
