The original operating system was Windows Millenium and I added XP as an upgrade. I wiped the hard drive and am trying to reinstall the XP upgrade version. Then I tried to issue with a new disk and it will not allow me to boot from the C drive. Any help.

Understand you’re my first reply and I have only been on this BBS a few minutes.
"Then I tried to issue with a new disk - have no idea what that means unless you mean a new hard drive because you couldn't boot up. Well lets review. Seems you had ME installed and then upgraded with a WinXP upgrade disk.
Eventually the whole thing failed and you reformatted your hard drive? Then something about "will not allow you to boot from the hard drive ". OK to me at least your exact problem seems not very clear but here is some advise that stands regardless. If you "wiped" the hard drive you need to reinstall ME with the recovery disk that came with your computer - then run the upgrade Win XP
disk again. You normally cannot install Win XP directly via the CDROM unless
you have an OME (original manufacturer equipment) disk that will install from scratch in a DOS environment. You may want to go out on the internet and buy one. That's what I did. Please advise if this helped at all and ask any additional questions. skent99
