I'm trying to update my system bios, and having little success. My motherboard is an Intel Pendleton D845PT. I have the PTAP06IB.exe file, and place the contents on a blank disk. When i try to install the bios however, i get an error message:

(H01): The flash data image read from disk was found not valid.

Any clues? I need to update my bios to P06 so i can install my new 2.6GHz processor.

Ive also tried to install the p08 bios, but had the same problem.

Finally, the windows installer version crashes as soon as its done setting up...I'm guessing its a related problem.

If anyone can help me, please reply :)

Hi gamerk2, welcome to the BBS.

To make sure there are no basic problems with the identity of the board, check the BIOS string http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-009015.htm
Yours should start with PT84510A.86A . If it doesn't then you have an OEM motherboard. An Intel BIOS upgrade will not install on an OEM motherboard.

"...not valid" would lead me to think that the problem is with the identity of the motherboard.

Your downloads may be corrupted. If you think so, try downloading and making the floppy disk with another computer.

There may be something wrong with the floppy disk. Try another. Although if the Windows flash program stalls as well, it is unlikely to be the floppy disk.

    Matt
