Problem trying to use Trend Housecall

I tried to use Trend Micro Housecall today but was unable on numerous attempts. I kept getting the following message:

trend Active did not update successfully
error code 16
error string either creating or deleting a directory under destination directory was not sucessful or there was a file access error


Anyone else use this site for a free virus check and had the same problem?

I don't so can't say anything firsthand about the site just now but you might want to try one of the others to make sure it isn't a critter that's bitten your PC.

What onboard AV do you use?

I used the: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

It showed up clean as does my Norton Anti-virus 2003.

I also came accross this site in my search:

http://www.krazee.unstman.btinternet.co.uk/page11.html

It has a wealth of info on online scanners etc etc.
