Problem removing a program

I'm trying to remove some software that was installed on my pc for a wireless logitech keyboard/mouse. They've crapped out and the software for the new keyboard/mouse won't load without removing the old.

Everytime i go into my control panel and try to remove the program I get this message: "error installing ikernel.exe(0x10000) "

Any ideas?

 

Problem with InstallShield can affect both install and uninstall. This could also be caused by your anti-virus. Try disabling it while uninstalling/installing.

I followed the instructions in the first link and it didn't resolve the problem. I couldn't get the process described in the second link to work. I kept getting error messages like destination not found or cannot open file.

 

I just spoke to someone at Logitech. From what I could tell him he thinks the program was already manually deleted, but my computer still thinks its there(??) and my only recourse was to re-install windows xp.

Does that make sense?

 

Any ideas?

 

Hello heelsbigc and welcome to the Board

Before anything that drastic, use a reg cleaner to clean out logitech.

http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm use Clean the Registry after that use the find in registry feature to find logitech items in the Registry.

Do this in stages, pick those items that look like logitech items, later you can clean other items.

And you're going to have to do a lot of searching, a free excellent search program http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/ to find files.

Regseeker backups up items by default. And create a System Restore point before starting and at each stage you can undo anything, and/or use regedit to backup the registry:

Regedit -from the start menu:

run
type regedit > ok
in the File menu in upper left > export.

In the dialog, create a folder in My Documents (or where ever you prefer) for this and give it a file name. Double clicking on that file will restore the reg enties.

You can backup the entrie registry or branches.
