    Hi

I have followed a suggestion in an old post - http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-vista/63902-vistas-default-download-folder.html - and now I have a problem which I cannot address there since it is closed, that's why this new thread.

I have changed my downloads location from desktop to H drive with usb. Now my desktop has become a mirror of that drive, so whatever I download or delete to or from the desktop is repeated in my usb. When I tried opening my computer, I get this error message - H:\ refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, .... This occured when I removed my usb.

How can I get back my desktop function? Thanks.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

What happens when you repeat the steps and change the download location to a folder on your C drive?

    Hi Steve

Thanks for your prompt response. Well, as far as I can remember, there was a pop up saying that there would be duplication (I'm paraphrasing), and all my desktop downloads, folders, files etc were replaced by those from my usb. Later I found that those desktop items in another location in my hard drive. That pop up also say something to the effect that Firefox need to be customised to effect my change while IE would accept without further action. I was, of course, using Firefox then. That's as far as I can remember.

It seems to sound like the H: drive and the Desktop folder are (have been) "synchronised ".

    Hi sp3851

Thanks for the link but it seems to be related to Imation which I don't have in my pc. Perhaps my problem has to do with firefox or vista. I have searched the web but have yet to find a solution.
