This is a company PC and Windows is legitimate. SP2 is installed. I downloaded SP3 from this site, from external mirror 2 (exe)

Regedit is the Windows Registry Editor .....

Start > Run > type in regedit > Enter

The Registry Editor opens - navigate to the registry key stated as you would in Windows Explorer.

When you arrive at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion highlight it and right click > export and save it to the Desktop as Key.reg. This will be your backup in case anything goes wrong. The key can be merged back into the Registry by right clicking on the file > Merge.

Then right click on Current Type > Modify and follow #2 in the instructions.

    Thanks for your reply.

I googled the regedit, carried on, installed SP3, but when the PC restarted, everything crashed. Sorry I did not see your post earlier. I spent the whole day fixing the PC. I am still installing/downloading programmes.

So, other people can use SP3, but I will definately not install it on my desktop!!!!

So, for the others- beware!!! This was a waste of valuable time.

    Regards
    Albie

Well, you were unlucky - the vast majority of users have no problems at all.
