I have tried several times to install the December 2016 Microsoft Security Monthly Quality Roll Up file for the Widows 7 - 64 bit based system (update # KB 3207752) on my Toshiba laptop without success. I downloaded and ran the Microsoft Fix it tool, downloaded and ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter tool, purchased and ran the Remo Optimizer Repair tool which did find and repaired several issues. Despite these efforts (including several restarts) I still cannot get the Security update to install.

Any help in resolving this problem would be sincerely appreciated. Dave

James, I cannot thank you enough for this advise. I did exactly as recommended and was so relieved to see that although the December roll up (KB 327752) did not install the January 2017 security roll-up (KB312646) did along with the windows defender and malicious software removal tool (KB890830) updates. I had spent days trying to get that critter to install without success.
If I read your post correctly, the fact that the January roll-up installed means that I am up to date with the monthly security updates and don't have to worry about December's. This morning I ran the windows update check and no new updates were posted.

You're welcome, David! I, too, went through what you are dealing with as have many others according to the last link I gave you.

That is correct as far as I can tell.

Another tool I like to use is Belarc Advisor. It is a (free) small program that scans your PC for missing updates, and it will give you a download link if one is needed. I like to use once a month to get a second opinion.
