In XP Pro SP3, in OE 6 for composing mails, I have set the default font style to Arial 10. But when I create a new mail or reply to a mail, the font is still appears in the MS default, Times New Roman 12.

Any tips on how to enable Arial 10 as the default font in OE 6 ?

Thank you Pete. I have tried the same thing and set my font to Arial 10 in Tools/Options/Compose/Mail. But it is not working. And my OE 6 has a default font Time New Roman 12.

Did you check that no default stationary is specified as noted under 'Default Stationery Overrides Default Font'?

I'll come back to this tonight - out for the day.

No default stationery has been specified. The stationery box is left unchecked.

OK. I went to Internet options/Accessibility and unchecked the Ignore font styles in webpages and Ignore font sizes in the webpages and bingo the OE6 font changed to what I selected. But this ******* up my webpage browsing views since they are all now in different formats.

Any way I can do this through another route ? Why does M$ makes simple things so complicated ?

By default all the Accessibility options are unchecked in IE8 - I am not clear as to exactly what you mean by 'different formats'?

In IE under View > Encoding Auto Select should be checked along with either Western European (Windows) or (ISO) plus L to R reading.

By default, in IE options those two fonts come checked. That way all the webpages appear in the same font and size I prefer. Once I uncheck these boxes, the websites appear in their own font and size which is PITA.

The strange thing is that this OE 6 problem is happening in my new Toshiba laptop. My old Dell laptop was set to ignore the font style and size and yet OE6 has no problems accepting my preferred font settings.

May be a registry fix is needed ?

Which version of IE are you running? 8 I guess on a new laptop.

Checking my netbook with W7 Home Premium x32 & IE8 the Accessibility options are unchecked and I am very sure that I did not uncheck them. They are unchecked on my backup desktop running XP SP3 and IE 8 and also on my laptop running W7 Home Premium x32 and IE9 and in both my virtual machines (XP Mode in 7).

IMO what you are seeing is normal and as I have not used OE for well over a year I have no further suggestions except to ensure that your updates are current.

Yes, I use IE 8 though the browser itself an IE clone, slimbrowser. The OS is XP Pro, SP 3. The odd thing is, I had the same OS/browser/e-mail client in my last laptop and never had this problem.

I am thinking of uninstalling OE 6 and reinstall it. But I am not sure how to uninstall OE 6 alone.

    Thanks for your time.
