Problem getting ps2 online

I've been trying forever now to get my ps2 online, but, so far to no avail other than with Resident Evil: Outbreak File 2. I can't get anything else online, not even the network adapter disc. I've tried Smackdown Vs Raw, 007: Everything or Nothing, and X-men: Legends 2. No go on any of those.

I'm using the US model Westell Versalink 327w Modem/Router from Verizon, (aka a piece of garbage). I have tried connecting the ps2 directly to the modem as well as having it routed through the e2 port while the e1 port runs through my comp.

The dsl line is connected directly to the wall jack.

I'm running in PPPOE mode, I've tried switching the WAN to DHCP(or rather tried to detect if I had it with the option in my router) but it just resets my modem everytime I try then does nothing.

I've tried automatic settings, both inputting my username and pass, and tried with no username as pass. I've also tried manual settings. No avail.

I've tried Static NAT, Static IP Passthrough as well as routed bridged mode. Still no go.

I've set up port forwards on every single port possible as well as port triggers, no go.

What else, I've tried setting a static IP manually through windows xp in the connection properties itself by entering my ip and dns info directly instead of obtaining an ip automatically. No go.

I've searched google repeatedly for hours on end for faqs on the versalink, other people with similiar problems, multiple forums, and anything I could get my hands on, nothing has fixed the problem.

The E2 light goes on for a second when I try to connect online with the ps2 then goes out right after and I get a connection error a few minutes later.

Again, I can get online with Outbreak File 2 without a problem at all. I can play that fine, I get no connection problems there at all. Yet nothing else will work, not even the network adapter cd connection test.

Also, to note, if you go to the connection editor in any game such as 007: EoN or Smackdown Vs Raw, the little test connection that runs there makes my E2 light go on and I get a connection test success there. Yet, when I go back to 007 or SvR, I get connection failed.

I'm seriously at my wits end on this, I can't figure out what the problem is at all. If anyone is able to help me with this, I would be GREATLY appreciative. Please share your thoughts and explain in detail if possible what to try.

Thank you for your time and hopefully someone is able to help -_-

    * I don't have a PS/2 although we have an XBox here in the house (not mine) I've never tried to network a game console before.

I just did some searching around and found this link:

    http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12505321?r=600

You might have to join DSL Reports to read it, I'm not sure. I'm a member on there. One post in particular said the following:

    > You're obviously doing something wrong -- Static NAT = what everyone else
    > calls DMZ -- this forwards all ports to the destination LAN IP --
    > Versalink "Services" configure port forwarding -- but don't forget, the
    > firewall rules will override ANY services config, so if you have your firewall
    > set to HIGH, don't expect port forwarding to have any effect at all.

    > And, FYI, Verizon blocks inbound port 80 in most of their markets.

    * How is it that you are saying that you

    > I have tried connecting the ps2 directly to the modem as well as having it routed through the e2 port while the e1 port runs through my comp.

    * Do you find some other port other than e1 through e4? I don't see any in the manual other than wireless.
