Is there anyone out there using the Pro version of AVG? I'm frustrated by not being able to schedule tasks with either the Free or Beta version and wondered about the Professional. I understand it allows user scheduling but wondered if others use this and how they find it. Thanks.

Haven't uses the Pro version but with the free 6.0.782 version I'm running, I can schedule pattern file updates and scanning time. Not sure what else I'd want to schedule with an AV app.

I have used AVG for a a long time now, but have noticed that many viruses seem to disable it - and the last few viruses I have had, it has been inefectual at dealing with and I have had to use other software.

I would also like to know if the paid version is worth getting, as I am no longer happy with the FREE Edition, but reluctant to spend money unwisely.

According to the most recent AV Security Bulletin, AVG passed its tests and has passed them for the past several months. I've heard what you report from others, I just have't experienced it myself. In terms of the differences in features and engines, I would suggest users of AVG check out these at their site. According to them there is definitely a difference in the latest Pro version having a smaller and faster engine and allowing for scheduling and customizing to a greater degree than the free counterpart.

I'm wondering about EZ Trust. It offers a year's free trial which is darn good and it is actually more highly rated than AVG. My problem is I will NOT use IE (I use Netscape 7.2) and whereas I know AVG scans its outgoing and incoming mail, I'm fairly certain this is not the case with EZ Trust (for Netscape that is). Anyone have information here?

I have been running AVG Pro v7 for over one year and haven't encountered any viruses or had the program disabled by anything. You can set schedules and edit any of them add new ones and set the level of the scan you want to schedule eg basic mode etc
I have installed the free version on other computers and see the limitations compared to the version I am running. There are quite a few components and user settings to use if you really want to.

I am sure you have read the new Free version 7 which is in beat at the moment will offer more technology than the current v6. The current free version received a very poor report in a computer magazine this month but hopefully with the new release it will be back into the higher ratings.

I am wondering exactly what they will allow in the free as the screenshots look so much like the Pro version. They may disable tasks such scheduling but we will all have to wait and see. I know the Pro version I have has changed a lot since I installed it and there are less manual configurations to the personal e-mail scan now which is very welcome. I find it fast and easy to use although I do keep my eye open for new inovations. I have know reason just now to change my AV but I also have a separate AT. It will also show if a virus is hiding in System restore which other AV's do not always show. HTH
