    Hi,
I have Windows XP home, SP1 plus fixes. I am trying to get Printmaster 15 Select (1 CD) to work. Brought from one of yahoo.com stores. This version went out of support on 6/04 I found out.

I can open program, select project but nothing displays on the Workspace. The same thing happens when I try to draw, e.g., a circle, I can draw the circle but as soon as I release the mouse, the circle displays and on the black squares showing the corners are left.

    Following are major testing done.
I have directx 9.0b, ran all the tests successfully with dxdiag
Have Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 with v. 6.14.0000.5216, dated 10/6/2003 from MS Website. Works well with Sony Movie Blaster, etc.
    Tried lowering h/w acceleration.
Changed from 32 bit color to 16 bit color.
When I installed the 2nd time, I removed all startup programs in msconfig, installed Printmaster and then placed them back in again.

    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Any place else to look?
    Thanks much,
    Ken

Have you tried setting the shortcut to run in compatibility mode for an older OS version?

Good idea. I tried that Compatibility Mode, removed XP themes and didn't make any difference.
Then tried Windows 98 and didn't help. So Comp. Mode did not seem to help.

In further experimenting, I found that when I click around on workspace and the black "handles" appear, I was able to do a right mouse click, copied this invisible image to the clipboard and paste into Paint. There was an image there. So maybe there is a video driver incompatibility - none is mentioned in Readme file or any place else.

My NVIDAI GEForce FX 5200 driver is dated 10/16/2003. I looked at nvidia.com but they just seem to have driver that fits all is what they say. I am hesitant to change to another driver since I had trouble with Windows Explorer abending while moving/copying larger movie files. Someone suggested getting this level of driver a 3-4 months ago and eliminated the Explorer abends.

How can I save this driver and then try another video driver? Or is there something else that I should try?

    Thanks,
    Ken

Based on what you are seeing I agree a driver issue is most likely.

Not sure there is any real good way to save your present driver set but unless it is really old or otherwise unavailable, the NVIDIA Driver page should allow you to try a variety until you find one that behaves.
