Am not able to print a full-width webpage in XP’s IE 6 "“ even in landscape! I’m hoping I'm just missing a setting somewhere. My search of this site shows that other people have experienced the same problem (don’t know which versions of IE), but none seemed to have a resolution that would fix this siatuation.

Printer is a new HP deskjet 1220Cxi (3 months old "“ performing great in all other functions), monitor screen resolution is 1280 x 1024.

The printing option which lets you choose a single frame to print, or the combination of all of the frames to print is grayed out. So, the output is a "partial" page "“ e.g., if there are three web pages, there are three partial pages that come off the printer, each missing the right side. Can’t find any printing options for "shrink to fit" or downsizing the page, or even printing the whole page as it appears on the screen. It is only the width that is a problem "“ I’m getting several sheets of output which print the full length of the webpage, but I can’t get the full width of the page on the paper. When I print in landscape, the left margin is about 2 ½ - 3" wide "“ still missing the right side of the page.

Wondered if maybe it was just the way this particular web page was set up (2 lrg jpgs side by side, losing the right one), so I decided to see if the problem persisted with other web pages. It did "“ still losing the right hand side of the page just the same as described in other threads, although not as bad as this one site that I need to print. With page setup, I did change margins as suggested elsewhere in my search, but that only gives me a ½ inch of extra space to compensate "“ even if I could go edge-to-edge with the output, it won’t compensate for the missing photo on the right side of the page.

I seem to remember that there was an option somewhere in IE5 to print the entire page as it appeared, or print individual frames. Can’t seem to find that option in IE6-XP. I have tried everything I can think of in Page Setup, print preview, even tried saving the page and importing as html into Word; saving it as a jpg and importing it into paint. But the captured jpg only got the screen, even at 1280 x 1024, the horizontal scroll bar is activated - so it is a very wide page.

How does one enable the frame choices under the printing options? If it is grayed out does that mean there are no frames on the page? Does anybody have a fix for this or even a workaround?

HP’s tech support advises me it’s a Windows problem. ;)! no surprise... TIA "“

Have you tried File->Page Setup and change the right & left margin to .25

    Hi, Steve; yes.

And the .25 does work for some webpages, but not for this particular one which is probably sourced out of Europe.

Was hoping that someone might have a secret setting to shrink the page width to fit on an 8.5" page.

Hi, finally posting back… sorry for the delay. I was eventually able to print the page, but not in a conventional way.

Steve, I had already tried word. When I opened the saved html with Word, I was able to see the entire page by scrolling horizontally just like the browser --- however, I could not print the entire page in word either, even using a landscape orientation. Still missing the right hand side. Unfortunately neither of my elderly printers has the "best fit" option and I wasn't able to get back to my client's nwer printer to try this option, so I don't know if that would have worked.

My capture tool, Snag-It, which can be set to scroll mode in order to capture an entire web page, was only able to get the screen image as it scrolled down, and of course the screen was missing the right hand side. So I ended up using Snag-It to capture the left side, and then the right side of the page, and then paste them side by side in Word. From that "reconstruction" job, I was able to get the print I needed.

I don’t know much about html, but I’ve concluded that the difficulty had to be from the page design. When you opened the webpage in IE5, an error consistently came up that the "page cannot be displayed," and then the page was promptly displayed but the full width of it never appeared across the screen, you could only see it by scrolling horizontally "¦

So, it doesn’t appear to be an IE problem, just a design problem of the subject. Wish there had been a more satisfactory resolution, but I got what I needed finally.

Thanks Steve, your imput was much appreciated -------
