This is a follow-up to my much bigger problem with Office 03, now resolved thanks to you guys and MSoft.

I now get a diagnostic message every time I boot up that says the "Printer transfer card monitor has malfunctioned and must be shut down."

I have an XP SP3 system and run a Lexmark X5650 printer through a USB port. The printer is performing without any problems.

When I was having the Office 2003 problem, I finally got a diagnostic that a PDF add-on was the source of the problem. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional, but the authorisation for it has just expired and could not be renewed. Since that was a freebie, and I only need the reader-printer feature, I let it go.

Could this be part of this "monitor" failure? I'll be spending some of tomorrow on MS troubleshooting systems, but if anyoine has any ideas what this could be, I'd be happy to hear.

Click on Start->Run and type MSCONFIG

Look in the startup tab for anythring related to Lexmark and uncheck it.
