printer spooler is off

    Im trying to install a printer on my computer and when im installing it a window pops up sayin that my printer spooler is off and the install is canceled ...what is a printer spooler? and how do I turn it back on??

    When you hit the print button in any application the file to be printed is transferred to the Print Spool and Windows takes over feeding the data to the printer in bite sized pieces which will not choke the printer. Having hit Print you can safely close the application which created the file before the printout is complete - should you so wish.

    Right click My Computer icon > Manage > Services and scroll down to Print Spooler and double click on it. In the dialogue which appears Startup type should be set to Automatic - and hit the Start button.
