Most printer makers don't want you to use the add printer wizard. Check your paperwork, and uninstall/reinstall your printer and software. Check for updated drivers at your manufacturer's site.

Neither of those suggestions worked...but thanks anyways. The error says exactly this: "An error occurred during this operatoin. "
On page setup, it had a printer button. I clicked that, and my HP deskjet970Cxi was there, and i set it there but it gave me the same error. How does it remember the printer but i cant add it and it isnt there in the printers folder??

    any other suggestions?

It is the newest version of IE

Did the printer work properly before?
    Have you installed anything recently?
Maybe run restore to a date predating the problem?

HPs are very perticular how they get installed. Just a quick look at the HP site, printer NOT to be connected when running the software to install.

Explorer remembers the last printer installed. I know you said you click add printer and nothing happens, but from my experience with my HP printers, you have to completely uninstall all Hp printer's files and folders Before adding another one or doing a new installation.

From what I've read of your description, it seems to me somehow a nothing printer got installed and that's what the I.E. sees, No Printer.

Did you try either of my last post suggestions? if so what were the results??
