    Hello,
My printer HP LaserJet 100 Colour MFP M175a was functioning ok with Windows 7 on my desktop Dell Optiplex 3020. When I upgraded to Windows 10, I could print but scanning failed.
I downloaded latest drivers and unsinstalled the old installation. Now when I attempt to install again, I am stuck in a loop. I get the message "The prior product installation failed to complete. The partially installed files must be uninstalled before you rerun the product installation. "
When I reboot and attempt to install again, the same error message is returned "The previous product installation failed . . . "
IOBit Uninstaller does not "see" any remnants of the printer installation.
The system appears to uninstall (runs from 0% to 100%) then prompts me to reboot.
I have successfully installed the printer on my Dell 14iR laptop using the same download.

    Help!!

I hope I have not posted in the wrong place!
    kf

    Thank you Pete
I have downloaded and run the fix to no avail.
I am presented with a list of programs to UNINSTALL (I tried INSTALL too) but my HP software is not listed.
When I selected "Not listed" option, I was prompted for a 38 character product key. I am not sure how to get this!

There is problem with old HP MFP's in Win 10. Drivers for most of them are not available or available only for Win 8. Using these drivers only enables printing & not scanning. Until HP or MS releases the proper drivers for these devices, we are in a soup.

    Thank you.
But as I posted, the installation on my laptop is working well - both print and scan!

Ok - Not exactly the same version. Infact there is a major difference.
The laptop is running 32-bit, the desktop is running 64-bit OS.

Are you sure you are downloading the 64bit from HP?

    Hello
I am not given the option to select 32 or 64 bit download. There is only one file CLJ_MFP_M175_USB_sw_win_full_solution
Even the support.hp.com pull down list does not make a distinction between OS.
    Windows 10
    Windows 8
    Windows 7

I just went into the HP site with your printer model info and it detected my comp was running W10. It stated the software was for W10 but have you tried the Diagnostic Tool that is available?

The diagnostics tool (HPPSdr.exe) did not detect the MFP 175a printer!
During some attempts the printer was listed as a network printer. I tried CONNECT as USB, restarted, changed USB ports, changed USB cable to no avail.

Someone has suggested that I re-install Windows 10! I am very reluctant to do that since I do not have issues with other installations/applications.
I will try to install the printer on another computer with Windows 10 64-bit. That will be Monday.

HP Printers - After Windows 10 Upgrade, Printer Problems Occur | HP® Customer Support
Have you been through ALL this Trouble Shoot info from HP. The Print and Scan Doctor is worth trying and of course the bottom line is complete uninstall and re-install. I have used the HP Remote Detect software quite a few times in the past with great success. I have not had any problems with my HP 2540 which has been operating with all my drives and during the upgrading from W8 to W8.1 to W10 to W10 1607. I usually get a message requesting me to install HP CD to Finalize and that only takes about a minute to complete.

I have successfully, and without any trouble, installed the printer on another Windows 10 Pro 64-bit PC!! I can print, I can scan.

What is the difference between the comps??? You may have some software or program that is in conflict with the HP software. Check very carefully and compare them.
