Hi Everyone, I need to get a print server to enable my wireless laptop to access a Canon s900 usb printer and an HP laserjet 3100 parallel printer over a Dell Truemobile 2300 wireless router -- and all without having to maintain a PC with a wired connection to those printers.

If necessary, I can just lose the parallel laserjet printer and use only the usb Canon s900.

I've read some reviews of the D-Link DP-G321 and a couple of other printt servers, but some say you can't see the printer status functions through that print server and I don't even know for sure if I need a *wireless* print server.

Can someone please simplify my life and recommend a print server that will meet my needs?

I really don't want to spend the next month learning more than I ever wanted to know about print servers.

What are these printers connected to now? If already connected to another computer then just setup File & Print Sharing on that comp and on the laptop. Then on laptop go to Control Panel/Printers/Add Printer and add the network printer. The wizard will download the needed drivers from the other comp.

Otherwise, just connect any decent home network print server to one of the lan ports on the router, connect the printers to the print server. Then add the network printers on the laptop per above. The print server will have an ip address just like any other devices connected to the router & can be configured in a web browser via it's default ip address from any lan comp.

That dlink is a wireless print server, you don't need a wireless print server, you just need a wired print server that has usb & parellel port for the printers and a cat5 to connect to your existing wifi router port. Adding a second wifi device on your lan will only complicate things. As long as you can connect to your wlan from the laptop you will have access to the printer connected to the print server.

Tip: assign the print server a static ip address. If your router address is 192.168.1.1 them make the print server 192.268.1.2. This is done via the web browser.

    Your router documentation:

Thanks, and yeah, the issue is I'm moving my desktop to an office outside my home, so the printers won't have a wired connection anymore.

I'll just give a server a try and see what happens.
