I am the Administrator on my XP Pro operating system and there are 2 other accounts on my PC. One for my wife and one for visitors (both Limited accounts).

I'd like to allow my wife to see and modify my Program Files folder but I don't want the visitors to be able to do that.

If I right click on Program Files and click the security tab, I can deny all members of the USERS group any acces but unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to access the folder either even though I am not in the USERS group but instead in the ADMINISTRATORS group.
How do i get around this problem?

Furthermore, how do I change the group which my wife belongs to as there are only Limited accounts and Administrators accounts. I don't want her as an Administrator but I want to give her more than a simple Limited account. What do I do for this?

    Thanks

Thanks Christer, I read the post but I can't extract the information I need from there.

mflynn, how do I do that? Thats exactly what I wanted to know. If you could explain it, that would be great.

I'm still looking for answers to both the above questions.
i can't seem to find a simple solution - which it quite frustrating.:(

Rt click on a folder you want to controll!

Then Properties-Sharing and select Share this folder.

    Then Permissions, then add

this will bring up all users including administrators and everyone

click the specific names and add 1 at a time

then click ok and then remove all but these names from the permissions screen.

    OR!

Make you and wife Administrators and allow only administrators and keep everyone else classed below administrators.

OR! create a new group add individuals to it and add just the group to the permissions.
