    Running NS7 on XP Pro.

Happened to be glancing through my prefs.js file when I noticed the following line
Does anyone know what that line does?
I've not modified that file -- it should be standard boilerplate.

Following is courtisy of: Mike Hendy-Silly dog

"The timebomb feature was introduced when Mozilla was at a very early stage of development, because at that point they didn't want people using a particular version of it for a great length of time.

I believe it gives a nag to upgrade or such like. Not sure, never had it enabled before.

Just leave that bit in all-ns.js alone, or if you want to see what it does, enable it and set the expiration time to "1 ".

It won't deactivate your netscape or anything.. "

    Hope this helps

Yup, captjlddavis is right on target. Per one of the "Champions ":

On 05.07.02 14:22, Jay O'Brien Replied As Follows:

I would like to better understand the "time bomb" in NS7.0.

The "timer" is in prefs.js, near the end. It contains a "first launch time ". When the time bomb activates, the user is shuttled to the Netscape site to download a newer version (that doesn't exist today). It appears to be a "benign" bomb, if a "bomb" can be benign. As people are now starting to report being notified, it would be nice to know how to disarm or reset the "time bomb ". Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

Nothing new, beta versions expire so they don't hang around forever. We didn't have a timebomb for 6.0pr1 and were still getting talkback crashes from that horrible version (released 6 months before 6.0, which wasn't all that great itself) during our 6.2 effort. May still be getting them for all I know, though I hope not.

7.0pr1 expires October something, six months after release. The 4.x time bombs would restrict network connection to netscape.com (to get a
new version). I think the Mozilla time bombs just nag you.
