Beginning Apr 9, 2008 my computer is very slow to startup.
The event viewer shows Event 7026 (PQIMount driver(s) failed to load) at every startup since Apr 9.
Searching for files modified for the prior date (Apr 8, 2008) I find several, but are mainly for Symantec Updates and Symantec Shared QBackup and also Windows Updates, many relating to IE7 (KB945553, 948590, 947864, 941693, 94881) and SP2QFE.
Additionally 2 other files were changed; IMSINS.BAK and OUTLFLTR.DAT
I don't know if any of these files are the problem or where else I might look to find the problem, or how to fix.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

PQImount.sys is a Symantec driver. From what I can see, it is installed for their imaging programs including Ghost, Drive Image and V2i Protector.

PQI, I expect, stands for PowerQuest Image and it wants to "mount" an image file so that you can can see and work on files in it.

You may be able to uninstall the image reader. If you do not use the Symantec backup program, look at uninstalling it completely.

Run the install CD, see if has the option to remove the image reader.

Sorry I can't be much help, but I avoid having any Symantec programs running on my computers.

    Matt
