I know I can't hide updates in Windows 10 Home. What do I do to stop WU from trying to install this over and over again and failing?

I have Microsoft Office 2010. I thought maybe if I uninstall Powerpoint 2007 that would resolve the issue.

How do I know if I have a later version of powerpoint?

Also how do I uninstall something not listed in the control panel. It must be bundled with office.

I did find one article about uninstalling 2007 Primary Interlop Assemblies. I don't know if that is going to cause any issues removing it since I don't know if I need it.

What is W2007? The registry editing is beyond my comfort zone. I've dabbled but not much.

Can you tell me if I need that assembly software for 2007? Wouldn't my copy of office 2010 have its own?

Is it a built in trouble shooter you're talking about? I don't get any error messages.

I chatted online with a Microsoft tech who reset the Windows update. That didn't help.

I did some more reading and decided to uninstall the Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interlop Assemblies. That solved my problem of being offered the KB2596764 for Powerpoint 2007 and failing.

Thanks for the link Evan. I downloaded the troubleshooter for future use if necessary. It's good to know there is such a tool.
