I have three ZyXEL PLA4205s Powerlines connected to three video media players which work well. Problem is, after a day or so, I'm required to reset my router in order for the video players to again see the workgroup/network and shared drives. I know there isn't a problem with the powerlines so my question is if the powerlines are essentially hardwired via ethernet, why do I lose the network? My desktop is connected via Ethernet and doesn't lose the internet.

I should add that I'm using a Comcast TG862 Gateway combo which doesn't have a stellar reputation.

    Any ideas?

Assign each Zyxel a static IP address. It appears that DHCP is being used and the DHCP lease is 24 hours, and the Zyxels may be in a "sleep mode" when not being used and fail to renew the DHCP address. A static IP is always best for stationary networked devices, including network printers.

I'll do that. Give me a day or two to see if it works for my system.

I mean give the video media players a static ip.
And check the settings for those devices, they may have a power saving mode or sleep mode.

I was never a fan of powerline ethernet adapters, too many potential things can cause issues.

See if you can disable low power mode in the adapters using the utility software. From the manual:

I hear what you are saying but I've had success with mine. Tried using WiFi for the media players but there was no way it could handle the distance from the router to the media players.

Success. Three days and counting and no network loss. Assigning static IP addresses did the trick. Thank you.
