May be going to "suspend mode ". Check your BIOS settings for these and also the "soft off" settings which mean a 4 second delay in shutdown using the power button.
Still have problems....reset BIOS settings to "default ".

You may also want to reconfirm your LED, Power and reset pinouts and connections. If no change, disconnect all of these (exception - the power switch) and try it again. If no change put the reset switch + & - wires on the power switch pinouts (make this the only wiring connected on those pins) and try starting from an off mode using the reset switch on the front of your case. This should isolate whether or not its a bad momentary contact switch causing your problem.

Most Power Supplies are ether good when you get em' or show problems within the first couple of hours. Do you have another PS you can try? If so, substitute ad test.

Next place to go looking is MB itself and we won't go there yet ... yet.

Hope you can isolate it, find its something simple and get things working right.

    ;)

I agree it's probably a case of "shutdown -> sleep mode ". If so, your cure is just a setting away.

To see if the comp is sleeping:

    * Does turning it on always result in the same spash screens? Same boot time? Does it use Scandiak?

    * If yo do a hard switch off (backside switch) does the comp complain about a bad shutdown? (If it is suspended to DISK (hibernated) and not to RAM (asleep), it should not complain, but OTOH it should not need the fan and power kept on either!)

Other than the BIOS screen you may be able to reach on startup, check if the mobo comes with utilities that let you change BIOS settings from within windows
