I have the MGE office protection System (model NOVA AVR 1250).

IT connects to the PC by USB cable and Vista recognizes it (with out having to install any drivers)

and i set vista to shut down when when the UPS reaches 50% battery.

my 1st concern is it looks like Vista Powers off with out actually saving settings and shutting down, when restarting everything seems normal PC boots normally with out any errors, but i loose any Windows changes made during the last session, i haven't tried having open documents to see if i loose any Data.

after searching help and support, the MS Vista Site and google i still didn't find any answer to my problem so i figured i try using the scheduled Tasks to do that, but i cant seem to find the proper trigger.

im wondering if its possible to use "low battery level" state/ notification as a trigger?.

alternative methods are more than welcome.

In the event of a power failure - you're looking for something to save all of your work....place it in the correct folder(s) with the correct file name and type....not replace the previous copy....How about spell check it first too;)

alternative methods -> Save you work Before leaving the pc. That way the UPS and simplly shut down the pc like it was inteded to do;)

Steve R Jones, very close I was also hoping it would also call the power company and complain about the power failure ;), but seriously I was thinking of making use of something similar to Alt + F4. which closes any open program (but requires a confirmation to save the item)

yes i thought about the saving everything b4 leaving My PC, but i saw no harm in seeing if there wasn't a fully automated Solution.
