I am putting this here for a start. If someone thinks it should be named diffferently or be in another forum please feel free to make changes.

But it relates to my THINKING about my Scanner problem in the This Thread And I need ideas.

In thinking back to the day before the problem, I tried to install something. I forgot what as my personal memory banks are not that good anymore.

During the install attempt MS AntiSpyware kept comming up with and alarm to ALLOW or DENY I kept hitting ALLOW but got nowhere. The only way I got out of the mess was to restart Windows. ( reset button on the tower at that ) That did not go that well either.

So. What I think is that the install was only half way complete and may have messed things up. BADLY it seems.

Now I believe it would have been in my best interest to do a System Restore right then. Not wait till the next day.

So this gives me the idea that it might be a good idea to shuthown MS AntiSpyware and may be even restart Windows without it loading before attempting an install.

Could it also be related to THE TYPE of software being installed ?

Also it might be that I should have added it to
This Thread in the first place. Because I believe it might well be part of the whole picture.

    PS.
I have three 5 year olds bugging me so my thinking might be going a bit astray.
