Popups just keep coming up.

Hi All,

My problem is that a new internet window comes up after about 30 secs. These new windows have no content but say a page cannot be found. They can be closed but continue to appear at regular intervals. I think they are caused by an incomplete removal of an old virus(?).

I have running on my computer AVG, Microsoft Anti-virus and Kaspersky Anti-virus software but none of these programs can find and remove the above problem.

I also have trouble with my IE window closing for no reason when I call up a new web site. However I can prevent this happening by working 'in a new (second) window'.

I am using IE6.

Any help in fixing the above faults would be appreciated.

Hi nargh,

You should only have one antivirus program installed/running. They will often conflict with each other.

Open msconfig and make sure all boxes on the startup tab are checked, close and reboot if you had to check any, then create and post a HijackThis log.
