we're finding it really difficult finding any resources that give details on workstations sending/receiving external e-mails when an exchange server is being used.

Can anyone help on the following?:

    1) If a customer sends one of our staff members an e-mail, how does exchange server send that e-mail on to the relevant staff member?

    2) If a customer sends one of our staff members an e-mail, but gets the address slightly wrong, how does exchange deal with e-mail aliases to ensure that the e-mail still gets to the intended recipient?

    cheers for any input.

Each staff member will have there own e-mail address (ie: user@yourcompany.com) so therefore their e-mail would go right to them. The e-mail is stored in the individuals folder on the Exchange server, not on the local HDD.

With a bad address it depends on how you setup Exchange, it can be sent to a specified address such as administrator or just deleted.
