pop ups galore on Internet

Hi,
I have developed a challenge where it seems all of a sudden i have pop ups all over my computer. to the point, where i would say about every 5- 10 minutes i get one.

i am a beginner and no little, but here is what i have checked and some information to help someone help me possibly.

my operating system is vista,
i use IE for my browser.
my pop up blocker is on
i went under tools- Internet options- and made sure everything was set to avoid this challenge. if there is any other data u need to help,please let me know!

Well... one possible solution is to download and install Firefox for your browser. Then download the Ad-block extension for FF which will kill ALL pop-ups and pop-unders as well as banner ads and any other sort of ads. It's a radical solution but it will definitely work and it's not very difficult to do. Should take all of ten minutes to accomplish.

Problem resolved and appreciate both ideas.
I will check out the link given here and in case there are any other beginners who read this post: I did a sysyem restore and created a customized date and has resolved the issue so far.
