I'm curious. Why is it when I go to my plugin folder for Firefox, I only have one (npnul32.dll) listed? Then when I open Firefox and type in about:plugins, I have several listed. Does the folder just list the ones downloaded with Firefox and does the list show every one on my system?

Thanks for shedding some light on this for me!

    Mike,
Firefox seems to be able to pick up the correct associations from downloaded software. I have noticed one exception, and that has been with the Flash 7, which seems to keep to itself. I have had to copy the Shockwave files to the plugins folder. There is a dramatic way to show this, and that is to look at the Prefbar, if you have it. There is a Flash item, and it is unchecked, until I scrounge out the npswf32.dll file. I have looked at the plugins folder, and it seems to get filled with time.
You can also check the Tools|Options|Downloads. Everything matches, except for the mystery of having AOL Media Player as default for a number of windows Media Player files, so the ndsplay32.dll file may also be required to be in the Plugins folder.

    Mike,

I'll bet you have all the plugins you see listed in about:config in Netscape Communicator.

The only plugins I had to add to Firefox's plugin folder was Crescendo, which I use for embedded midi files, and like Westside, Flash Player.

Thanks for the responses. So am I correct in assuming that only those plugins downloaded with Firefox will be in the Firefox plugins folder? Just trying to understand something new here. :D

    Mike,

You are correct, the only plugin downloaded with Firefox is:
    npnul32.dll

When I uninstall an outdated version of Firefox, when deleting the Program folder, I always save my plugins folder. This saves having to move the plugin *.dll files again. I simply replace the new plugins folder with my backup.
