Hello, a friend of mine has a brand new gateway m100 12" laptop and when a USB device is plugged in, such as a flash drive, windows will not automatically find and install the appropriate drivers for it. If i go into device manager i get a yellow exclamation mark with the following "the device is not configured correctly (code 1) ". If i tell it to search for the drivers and install them automatically it will and the device will work fine. However windows should do this automatically. I have gone through all the services and started everything that i could find that has anything to do with pnp or removable disks and still no luck. Any help is much appreciated. It worked out of the box and it has just recently stopped working, i have also looked on gateways website for updated drivers and they have no drivers whatsoever for this laptop! Also he did not have system recovery enabled so that's out of the question. Thanks again

    Problem Fixed

Alright after some research i got this problem fixed. Here's what i had to do.
    Do the following:
    1. start - Run
    2. Regedit
    3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    4. SYSTEM
    5. SETUP

Set "FactoryPreInstall" to "0" (it's probably set at "1 ")

Set "Audit Progress" to "0" (it's probably set at "1 ")

Re-boot -- and the problem is solved.

    Found the fix @ http://www.techsupportforum.com/archive/index.php/t-23082.html
