**pls help** how to format???

    I just installed win2000 after formatting win98.
    Now, I would like to format again but there is no DOS in win2000.

    I tried using the command prompt, but it said something about forcing a dismount on the C: and when choose the option "yes ", then it says "cannot lock the drive, the volume is still in use "

    I fixed it

    actually I fixed it...for some reason my windows 98SE boot disk did not have "format.com" on it so I had to d/l a bootdisk from the net, after that I could just type format c: /u in the prompt when I start up my cpu with the boot disk..

    told you I was a beginner ;O
