ok...I installed an oem copy of vista on my newly buily computer and everything was great, i had a base score of 5.9...then i noticed that the sata controller was set to ata...so i tried to change it in the bios and then windows wouldnt start...so i reinstalled windows after changing it to atsc mode i think it is under "storage configuration" in bios and i didnt see any option to reformat so i clicked next and it said somthing like: some windows files mite still be on and will be marked "old windows ". anyway after installing it asked for me to validate windows so i clicked ask later and then installed the wireless n pci adapter disk and tried to validate but it didnt work so i had to do it by phone wich did work. i then installed the mobo disk stuff and vga card disk virus scanner and a few other programs everything seem ok and on the window index score page it said i had new hardware detected but when i clicked the "update my score" it switched to basic and went through the process and then the graphics and aero subscores remained at 1.0 and on the last install it said 5.9(hd radeon 4870) so i switched back to ata mode and reinstalled vga drivers and still 1.0 and when i click on the button to see errors there are like 24 driver errors...at this point i dont care whether the sata controller is on ata mode or atsc mode, i just want every thing working...the weird part is that in the device manager everything looks ok. i,e no yellow exclamation point next to any thing...can some one please help me...i was planning on reinstalling again and just leave it on ata mode and see if that works... is that a good or bad idea? there isnt any kind of limit for reinstalls on the oem version right? as long as its on only one computer?
