OK, I got a big problem. My dad brought his laptop home from work, it runs Windows 2000 professional. Anyway, at work, he is a member of a domain, and at home i have workgroups. Anyhow, I tried to make him a member of my workgroup, but when he restarted his machine it wouldn't let him log in. Is there anyway that he can log on, or go into safe mode to change this issue, or is the computer inevitably *******. I hope not, otherwise i'm in deep ****. Please help as soon as possible.

If your dad has a 'local admin' account on the PC he can get logged on by changing from the domain at the bottom of the logon window to the PC name.

When he gets to work, he'll need a domain admin person to log on to the PC and rejoin it to the domain. Takes about 2 minutes or so.

If he lets you mess with it ever again, there are a couple of ways to let him participate in your local network without messing the PC up for him. Post back before you try and we can walk you thru the process.

It might be worth while if his work allows him to install software for you to buy him a copy of Roxio's GoBack for the laptop. Then if anything ever happens in the future, just reboot and select GoBack while the PC is starting. It will have some 'restore points' that will set the machine back to exactly as it was before the bad stuff happened. Cost is around $20 I think and it's worth lots more than that IMO.
