Please help me, I'm going NUTS.........

PLEASE HELP.....
Im new to compuyers, ^ Disabled, so i dont have any money to spend on such products, mainly when i dont know what Im looking for.
My PC keeps telling me that i have problems in,,,

WINDOWS CHM::/IDH_DISK_LOG KAL.HTM

I cant do anything, like play musuc, i can get the odd radio station, i cant do miuch at all, & i guess that if i start looking into files & things, then its a invitation to generate Smoke & Fire out the back of my PC.

I just need some idea's on what to & how to Download some program that will help me load the files its asking for, & then i can try & learn to do things. I need a music player, but everything i do, im told to upgrade to Win 2000 or somethinh better..........HELP

etc, I can go on. This PC is running on Win 98, i dont know how to update, or anything.
As i said because ive worked all my life, without using a PC, im just getting to grips, like i can send , e-mail, youtube, eBay, & basics, but because this was a neighbours PC, as they were up grading, they let me have this, so its all out of date,& has bits missing, just wondered if you could offer any help.
