A friend of mine just purchased office 2003 and sold me her old office xp for $50 if I installed it for her. The install of 2003 for her went fine, and I was even able to apply a hotfix to it.

I installed office xp on my PC (win2k sp4) with no problems, but
everytime I try to install a service pack or hotfix, I get the
error "C:\Cgi.msi\filename (where filename has been a different name everytime I try the update) cannot be updated because
it has been updated by a previous process" and can't get
by it. Does anyone know what the problem can be and if there is a resolution ?

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks Steve, but I had already found that and tried it. The directions are for a winxp clean boot, not win2k, but I tried it anyhow. I guess I'll keep on searching until I find the answer. I have posts on 6 forums, maybe one of them have ran into this error too.
