I can't figure out why clicking on a MIDI link in IE no longer plays the song in Wmp7. I only get the option to download (The 'open here' option is greyed out). I've installed (and then un-installed) several shareware demo media players but to no avail and I just re-installed Windows mp7 again. IE security medium, Zone Alarm off, and MIDI songs play from local disk files just fine, so I'm guessing it's a registry problem. I can't find a way to re-install W2k components from CD like I used to do in W98.

I would love to find a way to associate Cakewalk sonar 2 to internet MIDI files!!, but otherwise I really need daily access to Internet music (I'm a guitar teacher). Any tips would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Try going to Folder Options, File Type. Be sure .mid and .midi files are associated with Media Player and that the actions listed are both "play" and "open ".

That was the first thing I checked when I first had trouble, but not after I re-installed wmp7.
    IT WORKED!
    (Thank You)

Odd that the re-install didn't fix that. Oh well...

A couple of years ago I fixed my W98 registry to load Cakewalk to play Internet MIDI files, but couldn't get it right for current W2k OS. (wmp still assumed the Internet responsibilities). If anyone has a tip on how I might do this, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks again!
